Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage Plan is run by Medicare-approved, private insurance companies. Medicare Advantage includes all the benefits and services covered under Part A and Part B, may cover extra benefits and services for an added cost, and usually includes prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D).
Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage.
Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.
In most cases, you'll need to use doctors who are in the plan's network.
Sometimes called "Part C" – includes both Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance).
Commonly asked questions:
Who provides coverage?
Private insurance companies approved by Medicare.
How do you choose your providers?
You may need to use health care providers who participate in the plan’s network.
How much does it cost?
Some Medicare Advantage plans charge a monthly premium, some are $0 premium (in addition to your monthly Part B premium).
You may pay a copayment or coinsurance for covered services. Many MA plans offer vision, hearing, and dental coverage. Costs, extra coverage, and rules vary by plan.
Plans have a yearly limit on your out-of-pocket costs. Once you reach a certain limit, you’ll pay nothing for covered services for the rest of the year.
